The film depicts the water and food nexus and its evolving implications for national security through the lens of California’s San Joaquin Valley, a microcosm of this global crisis. Conceived, directed and produced by veteran social documentarian Jim Thebaut of The Chronicles Group, “Beyond the Brink” presents the realities of dramatic population growth and explores the escalating intensity of drought conditions, as well as water scarcity, groundwater/aquifer depletion, the threatened Sierra Nevada watershed and their effects on the Valley’s disadvantaged citizens. Most importantly, it reveals the ultimate impact of these issues on national and international security.
“Beyond the Brink” is the latest film in a series from The Chronicles Group on the critical issue of water scarcity. Other films in the series include “Running Dry” and “American Southwest: Are We Running Dry?”
